CHIHUAHUAN NIGHTSNAKE Hypsiglena jani (Duges, 1866) 

STATUS:  Rare

DOCUMENTED COUNTIES:  Denton, Hood, Johnson, Parker, Somervell, Tarrant, and Wise

HABITAT:  Western Cross Timbers and Rolling Plains

SUBSPECIES: Texas Nightsnake H. j. texana (Stejneger, 1893)

COMMENTS:  The Chihuahuan nightsnake should be more common in the western part of the Metroplex than it appears to be.
